October 16, 2025 – WPG Holdings, a leading international semiconductor components distributor focused on the Asia-Pacific market, announced that its subsidiary WPI Group has introduced an automotive smart LED light module evaluation board solution based on onsemi's NCV78514 LED driver.
This solution supports the evolution of automotive lighting systems towards greater intelligence and efficiency. As technologies like adaptive headlights, pixelated tail lights, and intelligent ambient lighting become more prevalent in vehicles, performance requirements for core driver chips are increasing. The evaluation board is designed to fully demonstrate the capabilities of the NCV78514 chip. It utilizes an H-bridge topology and a highly integrated design, supports a wide input voltage range of 5V to 20V, offers a maximum output power of 20W, and can operate independently without an MCU. This effectively addresses industry challenges such as thermal management and EMI interference while significantly improving system power density and reliability.
The solution supports programmable output current adjustment (200mA–1500mA) and features comprehensive temperature detection and fault handling mechanisms. It enables precise dimming via PWM signals and incorporates intelligent functions like input voltage derating and hot-start management, ensuring stable operation of the LED module under various working conditions.
The NCV78514 complies with the AEC-Q100 automotive standard and is suitable for fog lights, steering assist lights, logo projection, and other automotive lighting scenarios, providing an efficient and reliable driver solution for the new generation of intelligent vehicle lighting systems.
