Melexis Introduces Code-Free Three-Phase Fan Driver for Fast, High-Performance Motor Control

Ham, Tessenderlo, Belgium – April 1, 2026 – Melexis today announced the launch of the MLX80339, a code-free three-phase fan driver IC. Featuring pre-validated motor control logic that can be configured through a simple interface, the device enables rapid deployment of brushless DC (BLDC) motor control systems without complex software development.

Traditional single-coil drivers offer low cost but compromise on efficiency and noise, while conventional three-phase solutions provide high performance yet suffer from complex integration and long development cycles. The MLX80339 bridges this gap by delivering the performance benefits of three-phase motor control in an easy-to-use integrated format.

Together with the evaluation kit and the Melexis Compact Master tool, a design can be up and running in less than 15 minutes, dramatically reducing prototyping time. The motor control logic is prevalidated by Melexis, so engineers only need to perform systemlevel verification.

The MLX80339 is designed for sensorless, silent operation. It supports 20W at 12V and 40W at 24V, with configurable current limiting up to 3A, and integrates undervoltage, overvoltage, overcurrent, and overtemperature protection. Housed in a compact SO8EP package, it is optimized for small fans such as cooling fans, ceiling fans, and automotive seat ventilation, as well as micromotors, actuators, and pumps. The device operates from a 6V to 26V supply and over a temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.

The MLX80339 supports legacy PWM fan control for dropin replacement, and also offers UART and I²C digital interfaces for applications requiring diagnostics or multifan coordination.
