December 10, 2025, Malvern, Pennsylvania, and Shanghai, China — Vishay Intertechnology, Inc., a leading global manufacturer of electronic components, today announced the launch of a new AEC-Q200 certified, glass-encapsulated NTC thermistor — the NTCS0402E3104*XT. The device utilizes the widely adopted 0402 ultra-miniature package, measuring just 0.5 mm × 0.5 mm × 1 mm, delivering excellent temperature detection accuracy and reliability within a compact footprint, primarily targeting automotive electronics and high-end industrial applications.
A key advantage of this thermistor is its glass encapsulation design, which provides comprehensive protection for the sensitive element against moisture, corrosion, and mechanical stress, ensuring long-term stability in harsh operating environments. It features outstanding key parameters: a high β value (B25/85) of 4311 K and a nominal resistance of 100 kΩ at +25°C (R25), with both resistance and β value tolerances controlled within ±1%. This enables high-precision temperature detection, system protection, and real-time compensation across a wide operating temperature range from -55°C to +150°C.
In terms of reliability, the product has undergone rigorous Human Body Model (HBM) electrostatic discharge testing, demonstrating ESD withstand capability exceeding 25 kV. This significantly enhances its resistance to interference and protection against electrostatic damage in automotive and industrial environments. The thermistor conforms to industry-standard dimensions, allowing direct replacement of existing similar components in the market, facilitating design upgrades and iterations.
The device is primarily intended for automotive electronics, including LED lighting modules, electronic control units (ECUs), various sensor assemblies, battery management systems, as well as perception modules such as cameras, radar, and LiDAR. Furthermore, it is suitable for applications requiring high-reliability temperature monitoring, such as smart energy meters, office equipment, and industrial smoke and fire detectors.
The NTCS0402E3104*XT features a surface-mount structure with nickel-tin terminations, supporting both wave soldering and reflow soldering processes. The product is RoHS compliant and halogen-free, highlighting its environmental credentials. For mass production efficiency, the device is supplied on reel perforated carrier tape packaging, with 10,000 pieces per reel. To help engineers accelerate the design process, Vishay also offers corresponding SPICE model support.
