Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corporation has launched the 'TLX9165T,' a new automotive photorelay with an output withstand voltage of 1800V (min.), specifically designed for 800V high-voltage battery systems in electric vehicles. Mass production of the product has begun.
As EVs demand faster charging and longer range, 800V battery systems are becoming the industry trend. Photorelays used in these systems require a withstand voltage approximately twice the system voltage. The TLX9165T incorporates Toshiba's latest high-voltage MOSFET technology in a 10-pin SO16L-T package, meeting the stringent isolation and safety requirements of 800V platforms.
The relay's package uses high comparative tracking index (CTI) material with a creepage distance exceeding 7.5mm, complies with IEC 60664-1 standards, and supports 1500V working voltage. It is suitable for battery management systems (BMS) monitoring and insulation detection, as well as energy storage systems (ESS).
This new photorelay provides critical isolation and protection for next-generation high-voltage EV platforms, supporting the automotive industry's transition to higher voltage systems.
